A little bit about me.

My name is Carly and I am a recent graduate from the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. I grew up right outside NYC in New Jersey (no judgement please), and then decided it was time for me to change it up a bit. Burlington is an incredible place filled with culture, music, good food, and of course, fashion. However, walking around downtown Burlington is way different than walking the streets of the big apple (obviously). It’s not that you are less likely to see some bizarre trends, but the people of Burlington have truly mastered what it means to be eclectic, unique, trendy, all while remaining impeccably¬†styled.

But more about me: I just graduated with a BS in Environmental Studies and Women’s Health. So many people think that if you care about the environment, you must be anti-consumption, and I do not believe that has to be true. It’s all about making smart consumer decisions, and being well informed about where your clothes are coming from, who is making them, and where you are buying them. I also am a self-proclaimed feminist (I like to think of that word on a spectrum, since the stereotype is a bit more radical than I identify with). Many “feminists” believe that the fashion industry was sent here to destroy women, and in many ways, I agree (clothes shouldn’t be made for girls 6 ft tall and 100 lbs). But I like to think of fashion as a way to empower women; to bring us together and make us look just as good as we deserve to feel.

I am also extremely petite – standing tall at 5 ft (and however high my heels are that day). I am no stranger to the seamstress, and let me tell you ladies (and gents) – she is your BEST FRIEND! Because of my height, a lot of what catches my eye includes short dresses, short skirts, short shorts, and platform wedges. However, I am also a huge fan of maxis – and refuse to not wear them just because they supposedly make me look smaller than I am.

Oh, and one last thing.. why I decided to write this blog. Well, most of what I choose to do in my spare time usually involves shopping, browsing, or just exploring different trends. I have a unique perspective and I know how to put together a damn good ensemble. I have recently been learning more about fashion around the world (UK, Australia, even Bali), and I know a lot of tricks for hair, makeup, and jewels. So, it’s time for me to stop keeping all this passion inside, and begin letting it pour out of me (and not just out of my wallet).
